Item description:

Following the battery health analogy used in the listing for Energy Tracking template, this document has a template for 4 different cue cards you can print on normal paper and laminate, or on card stock. There's a set of examples that is filled for you at the bottom half of the page.

Every neurodivergent person presents differently when we’re drained and low in capacity. When our phones are running out of charge, we usually set it to ‘power saving mode’ (or equivalent, depending on the type of phone you have) to preserve the battery charge, in hopes that it’ll last us to the end of the day, when we’re able to recharge it.

In Power Saving mode, the screen’s brightness may be reduced, Bluetooth may be turned off and some non-essential apps may be turned off. If that’s still insufficient, we may later put the phone into Ultra Power Saving mode, which might shut off all non-essential apps and Wi-Fi. Only the bare essential functions remain.

Being neurodivergent is not so different here. The dynamic nature of neurodivergence means that our level of capacity from day to day, moment to moment may differ. At times, our capacities might drop quickly and unexpectedly, and we may enter (or may even be involuntarily forced into) a Power Saving mode or Ultra Power Saving mode, leaving only the bare essential functions.

However, for many, the closest, key support people may or may not be aware of the cues that suggest that their beloved ND has entered once of these modes, and may unintentionally do things that are unhelpful in those situations.

Use the cue cards to help your trusted support people know the main cues to be aware of that tells them you’re in either of these modes. Then, use the cue cards beneath them to specify top 3 helpful and unhelpful things others can do when you’re in any of these modes.

The cue cards are a practical communication tool when we don’t have the capacity to engage in this type of communication
